The New KTM 1290 Super Adventure Spotted On Testing!

0

Images of the new 1290 Super Adventure bike from KTM out testing have surfaced online! This bike was slated for release in 2019, but that didn’t happen. Now, we are sure that the company is moving onwards with this project.

The delay of the bike has brought some changes, the biggest being its style – in a way that the bike will greatly resemble the 790 Adventure. It will also have split saddlebag-style tanks, a design choice that gets its cue from Dakar rally motorcycles.

We also know that the 1290 Super Adventure will have cruise control developed by Bosch. Essentially, that is an adaptive radar cruise control system, that will help out during traffic difficulties. This system, and others that will be in implementation, will be controlled by a TFT dashboard. Basically, it is the same as on the 1290 Duke R.

Regarding the construction of the bike, expect to see the identical 1,301cc engine that the Super Duke R uses. The bike will make approx. 160 horsepower and will be differently tuned than the Super Duke R. It will also comply with the new emission standards. We also notice a change to the bike’s swingarm, which looks kind of better than the previous one. Other than that, it will come with an 18-inch rear wheel, 19-inch front wheel, and electronically controlled suspension.

We still don’t know what the price of the bike will be. Well, it will take a while before this motorcycle is officially revealed. At least now we know that this bike is in the testing phase, which is excellent!

Voltz Motors Is Creating A New Electric Street Motorcycle!

0

According to some sources, Voltz Motors, a Brazilian electric motorcycle manufacturer, could announce a new model very soon. It seems that they have a smart electric motorcycle in the works that could have a naked sportbike or touring machine.

That assumption is made because there is a “large amount of tech built into the bike,” and because of the possible different battery pack combinations.

Voltz may be trying to get into the ring with the Zero SR/F electric motorcycle. It will be interesting to see how their bike will fare against that awesome motorcycle.

Other sources suspect that Voltz is trying to make a competitor to the electric Honda Grom, due to some proportions in the bike’s sketches.

Voltz Motors Electric Motorcycle Sketch

If the bike is constructed like that, it will undoubtedly find competition in CSC City Slicker bike that is out for a while. Voltz’s bike will need more than 96 kilometers of range to beat CSC.

Right now, this may all be speculation, with no concrete facts. If the rumors on the imminent release of the bike in a few months are correct, we will know a lot more about it very soon!

MV Agusta Offers A New Warranty Program For June Buyers!

0

MV Agusta has prepared a new warranty extension program for the owners of their motorcycles. According to our sources, if you purchase a motorbike from an MV Agusta official dealership, you will get four years of warranty for that bike. That makes it one year more than their usual warranty. Keep in mind that this offer lasts throughout this June, as far as we know it.

Of course, this program has some trivial restrictions. For example, Rosso, Superveloce, and SCS motorcycles do not comply with this new warranty extension program, as well as the Brutale 1000 RR, which are quite popular motorcycles. Also, this program doesn’t apply in Australia or New Zealand. Other than that, you cannot combine this program with any other MV Agusta promotion.

Of course, there is a lot of value on the table with this new offer. It is kind of a bummer that it doesn’t apply to some of the MV Agusta lineup. Nevertheless, MV Agusta proves that they are ahead of their competition when it comes to warranty programs. This move will undoubtedly bring even more riders to the MV Agusta camp.

HJC Launches The New V90 Retro Modular Helmet!

HJC is known for creating one of the best motorcycle helmets on the market, so you won’t usually see them making retro-style helmets. Nevertheless, they are creating the V90 modular motorcycle helmet, a retro-style helmet, a novelty for HJC. It certainly isn’t the same retro quality like Bell or Biltwell retro-style helmets, but it is a nice aesthetic combination of modern and old.

The round shell of the helmet features a large forehead vent and a large one on the chin bar. We can see the exhaust tube at the helmet’s rear. On the other hand, the old-school-looking bubble visor is as modern as it gets. Of course, like other modular motorcycle helmets, you can move up the chin bar.

Along with the helmet, you get an anti-fog internal sun shield. It is operable by the mechanism located on the left side of the visor. The removable interior is antibacterial and moisture-wicking. There is a gap in the interior that allows you to put Bluetooth speakers and eyeglasses.

You can get two sizes of the polycarbonate composite shell, depending on your preference. On the other hand, the helmet is available in sizes XS to XXL. For now, the price for the helmet is 319,99$ (282€/251£) for the low-end variant and 329,90$ (€290/259£) for the high-end option.

This is a cool-looking helmet and is a great buy if you want retro aesthetics and modern features.

Soriano Motori Creates Its First Electric Motorcycle, Featuring Dual Engines!

The titular Italian motorcycle manufacturer has its first electric motorcycle! Their electric bike has two electric engines that feature a boxer orientation. The company will reveal its motorbike at EICMA 2020. Even though the event is still ways off, the details and the price are coming out.

The name of the bike is Soriano EV Giaguaro. It will launch in three variants: V1R, V1S, and V1 Gara. All variants will have the duo-flex engine and three gears. Officials from Soriano claim that these engines can operate individually or concurrently to produce power.

The range of the bike will be 150 km, as we know of now. On the other hand, the top speed of the bike will be 180 km/h. Probably the different variants will have different performance and range. What further contributes to that probability is the pricing of the three different variants.

The pricing goes like this:

  • V1R – 25,500€ (29,000$/23,000£)
  • V1S – 30,500€ (34,600$/27,450£)
  • V1 Gara – 32,500€ (36,870$/29,250£)

Soriano Motori will also create a limited series of 100 bikes that will have numbers and signatures. You can pre-order the bikes now from their website! The bikes should be in the delivery stage in Q1 2021.

Royal Enfield Launches A Mobile Showroom!

Royal Enfield has become a significant player in the motorcycle market. They make fantastic, affordable motorcycles, market them properly, and open showrooms regularly. We have discovered an interesting tidbit; they actually opened up a portable dealership in Chiang Rai!

The portable dealership in question comes with a showroom and workshop so that essentially makes it a Royal Enfield dealership set up on a mobile home platform. That allows Enfield to sell motorcycles and showcase different parts for their bikes.

The dealership’s structure is made of shipping containers and sports a modular design. That allows for different configurations of the structure and placement in many different locations. At the moment of this writing, Royal Enfield will probably keep these in Southeast Asia, as they are focusing on expanding in this region. Well, according to their success, maybe we could see these portable dealerships in Europe or the US!

The idea of a portable dealership is certainly impressive. It can be utilized multiple times at different events, and that space is entirely under control by Royal Enfield.

A New Patent Shows A New Semi-Auto Transmission System From Honda!

Honda is no stranger to experimentation with semi-auto and auto transmissions. They have a semi-auto transmission on some of the Mini Moto models, and Dual-Clutch transmission (DCT) on larger motorcycles. (Africa Twin comes to mind) New patent sketches show a new semi-auto system from Honda!

From the patent, we can see the typical foot shifter for shifting gears but no manual clutch. Instead of a manual clutch, there will be a programmed “smart clutch.” That draws similarities to a quick shifter, with no need to use the clutch. So, the new transmission will work in a way when you toe the shifter, the power will be cut, and the next gear will be selected, with power going back.

Older Hondamatic bikes had a similar transmission in the form of two-speed transmission, with horrible implementation. The new system will have six cogs and will be significantly less complicated than the current DCT transmission. We still don’t know if this system will go into production. Everyone won’t desire it, but the system could be beneficial in heavy traffic.

Is Kawasaki Vulcan H2 A Possibility?

Now, there is Ninja H2 and Z H2 from Kawasaki. There is a high possibility that Kawasaki will go along with its supercharged powertrain and create an H2 cruiser motorcycle. Some sources report that the company is indeed working on a Vulcan H2, which would have the Ninja H2 powertrain in the Vulcan body.

Based on that theory, the new Vulcan would have a 998 supercharged four-cylinder engine with fuel injection, which would put out 200 horsepower. This power would be highly impressive for a cruiser, which would be able to go from 0 to 100 km/h much faster than the Triumph Rocket 3 motorcycle.

The speculations on the Vulcan H2 started after Kawasaki announced that they would revise the Vulcan lineup in the foreseeable time. Moto Rival from Thailand even published the rendering of the potential bike in the works.

Kawasaki still hasn’t made anything official, but that move makes sense. There has been talk about Kawasaki developing a power cruiser, which sounds a whole lot like the Vulcan H2.

Temporary CEO Of Norton Motorcycles Talks About The Future!

John Russell, the temporary CEO of Norton Motorcycles, talked about Norton’s future in a recent Superbike interview. The highlight of the interview is that Russell is aiming to make their customers happy again!

Russell states that Norton was making one motorcycle a week in the previous period. He said that this number would be ramped up a lot and that they would love to make motorcycles for all deposits in place. Russell states that there is no legal obligation for any of these deposits, because of the terms on which the company was sold.

Russell also commented on the poor opinions of new Norton brand motorcycles. He said that they want to be “fair and consistent,” as they don’t want people to have a negative outlook on the brand. The company will look into the technical problems to discover these problems and do their best to fix them.

Who is John Russell, you might ask? Well, he was a big name in Harley-Davidson from 1998 to 2007, the former vice president and managing director. Before his time with Harley-Davidson, he was a key executive at Land Rover. When he was in either of these two mega brands, there was evident growth.

So, Russell may be the best thing that could happen to Norton Motorcycles in a while! His role will be met with many challenges, but we don’t doubt that he has prepared well with his experience under the belt.

MIC States That Sales Are Strong Despite The COVID-19 Crisis!

On 28th May, the Motorcycle Industry Council held a webinar that showed that motorcycle sales still stay high, even though COVID-19 has caused a lot of difficulties. That is surprising, at least, as many economic sectors worldwide have taken massive hits.

No concrete numbers have been shown on the webinar, though. Erik Pritchard, the Motorcycle Industry Council’s CEO, insists that their reports indicate that the sales are up this year, even after the COVID-19 crisis hit in March.

He states that there was a slowdown in sales, which is not surprising. Even with that, sales this year were actually higher than in the same period in 2019. That stands true for March and April, and he believes that the same will apply for May.

We find these facts very surprising as many motorcycle shops have closed during the pandemic. Nevertheless, Pritchard insists that the numbers are on track, with some minor inconsistencies.

We are eagerly waiting to see sales reports for May, to see if these numbers and statements from MIC are true.
