Check your battery – A common issue in every motorcycle troubleshooting guide

You may think your motorcycle’s battery is fine, but you’re unsure. It is necessary to examine the battery if the bike does not start when the key is turned (but the lights do come on).

Cracked spark plug wires

Unlike the other issues covered on this page, Spark plug wires have one particular symptom.

There is no need for more than a cursory examination. Look for any fractures or break in the wires by twisting and bending them. A broken spark plug wire could be dangerous when the motorcycle is running. Since you’re grounded, the spark could arc through you and cause severe burns.

The rubber/plastic material that your cables are made of may ultimately degrade due to exposure to heat. As a result of more frequent and severe weather, this will happen faster.

Cold weather

This only affects motorbikes with carburetors and does not generally affect motorcycles with fuel injection. The turns will be slower than usual, but your motorcycle will sound like it is struggling to start.

Obviously, you can calibrate this using the outside temperature. Cold weather impairs gasoline’s evaporation when mixed with air, resulting in less efficient fuel burning.

The carburettor can become iced up, making it impossible for the fuel and air mixture to move through certain parts. It is easier for fuel to ignite in a warm engine (above freezing).

Put your bike in a garage or shed. Directly heat your engine and carburetor for at least 20 minutes. The engine will not be fully warmed, but it will start. On hundreds of occasions, this method has shown to be a great success.

Bad ignition coil

A faulty ignition coil will result in poor spark circulation on your motorcycle. If you know you have enough fuel, your battery is connected correctly, and there are no cracks in your spark plug wires, you have a coil problem. This issue is caused by poor idling and stalling.

Your motorcycle may start, but it will not keep running and stall. Alternatively, you may be able to turn on your motorcycle but not achieve a complete start because the coil is unable to support the starter.

Vibration and heat can harm the winding of the coil over time. However, the most common cause of ignition coil failure is a voltage overload caused by faulty spark plugs.

A multimeter can be used to check the voltages surrounding an ignition coil to ensure that is the real issue before purchasing a new one.

Bad/Blown fuses

When you try to start the motorcycle, it will make a typical sound but will spin indefinitely with no effects. You can even try spraying starter fluid into the carburetor, but it won’t help because the fuse cannot deliver a spark to the spark plug, causing it to ignite.


In most cases, if the fuse keeps blowing, there is a problem with the grounding wire. When installing aftermarket lights or a horn, it is possible to utilize the wrong wire.

There is just one starting fuse in a motorcycle. The primary fuse on every motorcycle is 30-50 amps (occasionally, some bikes will have 20 amps) of the battery‘s positive lead. It could be a normal block fuse or an inline fuse.

Clogged fuel injectors

When you try to start your motorcycle, it will run over normally, but there will be no combustion. If you know it’s sparking properly and there’s gas in the tank, and the bike has been standing for a long, the problem is most likely a clogged fuel injector.

Fuel injectors can also be inspected manually. You should clean or replace them if they appear dirty and clogged.

Fuel injection systems don’t have this problem very often. It’s a good idea to ride your motorcycle regularly to keep your injector clean.

The most common cause of an obstructed injector on a motorcycle is failing to regularly service the bike. Fuel injectors can be cleaned in various methods, including using a cleaning solution specifically designed for them and with a tool designed for this purpose. However, given the low cost of fuel injectors, it makes more sense to buy new ones than to invest in a cleaning tool.

Defective starter

This applies only if you have an electric starter. A faulty starter can generate a variety of unusual noises. A clicking sound is one example of noise. Another sound it will make is a buzzing sound (almost like a high-pitched annoying buzz), indicating that the gears aren’t catching on anything. The most prevalent reason for a starter to fail is ageing. These parts do not stay forever and will eventually become dysfunctional with regular use. Other factors include faulty electrical contacts and the starter becoming overheated. There is no way around it; you must simply replace the starter.

Faster than a Bugatti Chiron, Millyard Viper V10 motorcycle powered by a Dodge Viper

The idea of an 8.0-litre V10 engine propelling a motorcycle is far from common knowledge, but one YouTuber had a vision. Motorcycling obsessive Allen Millyard decided to design something outlandish, Millyard Viper V10.

For Allen Millyard, 160mph was not enough, so he increased the bike’s speed to a stunning 270mph. A limited top speed for a Bugatti Chiron is 261mph.

Powered by Dodge

With a 700lb Dodge engine under the keester, the ‘Millyard Viper V10’ is an impressive custom motorbike. Still, we weren’t sure how well it would perform in the corners based on how much it resembled the 2003 8.3L V10 Dodge Tomahawk muscle cycle.

There are reports that Millyard operates this bike. It performs well, given its size, despite its weight.

The Miku Super is a 125cc-equivalent two-wheeler according to the specs. It has a three-kilowatt, 235-nm-torque twin brushless motor. It allows this little two-wheeler to reach speeds of up to 80 kph (or around 50 mph).

Miku Super’s lithium battery can be charged either on or off the motorcycle, ideal for long journeys. If you’re looking for a vehicle that can go 81 miles on one charge, this is it. It has three modes of operation, with Eco delivering the stated 81 miles of range. For a little more excitement, the range is half to 56 miles while in Sport mode.

Design and build

QJ Motor 550cc Sportbike Introduced by QJ Motor

QJ Motor has revealed a new mid-priced model to compete in the middleweight sportbike market. Even though it hasn’t any official name, the QJ Motors motorcycle will include a parallel-twin engine and a familiar design.

If all goes well, the sportbike could be an alternative to the Honda CBR500R and CFMoto 450SR. Both of which have A2 compliant engines and comparable bodywork.

The new QJ Motor 550cc sportbike has a displacement of 554ccs. This translates to 47 horsepower when the A2 licensing requirements are considered. Yet, the engine can produce up to 56 horsepower and 40 pound-feet of torque when released. Customers in Europe may be able to make the QJ Motor sportbike A2 compliant. It will increase its power at the dealership once its driving licenses have matured.

Lucky Explorer’s 5.55-litre motor is shared with Benelli Leoncino and TRK 502’s 502C mill. It is a bored-out version of Benelli Leoncino’s mill. As the parent firm of both of these brands, one may hope that the Benellis will give a boost in displacement and power at the right time.

Performance

Why is Honda not introducing the new Honda Hawk 11 to the Uk?

It’s a massive letdown that the Honda Hawk 11 isn’t coming to the UK, according to Honda UK sources, especially given the thirst for cafe racers, modern classics, and vintage bikes over here.

It was previously revealed when the bike was shown at the Osaka Motorcycle Show in March that the Hawk 11 was not intended for the European market. However, according to our most recent knowledge, Honda has no plans to introduce the bike to the UK.

THE HAWK 11 has the same motor and engine as the Africa Twin and NT1100; Honda sells both in the UK.

Nostalgia

We are presently experiencing a wave of nostalgia, notably the romanticization of the 1960s and 1970s culture. Cafe racers fit right in, and with its 1084cc engine that powers the explorer above and tourer from Honda’s current lineup, the new Hawk stands out from other cafe racers, which often have smaller-capacity engines.

Outliers, like Triumph’s Triple 1200 RR and Thruxton Rs models or Kawasaki’s Z900RS Cafe. Still, the Hawk 11 would not have been entirely out of its depth in that category. And Honda does not share this viewpoint, as the bike design was to sell in any case. Why they thought the UK market was so distinct from others remains a mystery.

Honda’s strategy

One school of thought is that Honda is giving the freshly introduced NT1100 some time in the spotlight to give the new model some breathing room. This might be causing the business to be hesitant to release a new bike with the same powertrain to the market, as they are unsure if they will be able to sell as many units as they project, intend, or ship over for sale.

Whatever the reason, it is a shame that the Honda Hawk 11 will not be coming to the UK, if for no other reason than it would make the roads of the UK a little bit nicer. Still, perhaps Honda will change their minds and set their new cafe racer wild in the UK in the future.

Ixon has unveiled a new pair of riding trousers called the Fresh Pant for its spring and summer 2022 range. Designed to keep you looking and feeling fresh, the Fresh Pant’s light beige colour is definitely refreshing to the eye.

So as you can see, Ixon’s new trousers have a lot of ventilation built-in. It is like you’re wearing mesh over your legs. Yet, the top of the pants and the inside of the calves are of an abrasion-resistant 600D Polyester synthetic fabric.

Various rigid mesh panels make up the rest. CE-certified Level 1 knee protectors provide a more layer of needed protection. These characteristics combine to give the pants an EN17092 Class A PPE safety grade.

Pricing

Two zipper pockets are in the trousers as an added bonus for city commuting convenience. Besides to the fluorescent striping on the sides. It is fastened to your waist with a zip and snap fastening. When cycling or strolling around, the pants’ inside lining features an elastic section. It allows for a wide range of motion.
