Ducati Project 1708 Superleggera Will Utilize A 234hp Machine!

0

From some recently leaked documents, it seems that Ducati is creating a new motorcycle! The prototype name is Project 1708, which we can attribute to the new Superleggera. This machine is going to be absolutely insane! It will probably cost $100,000 ( £76,923 or €90,198) and is a superbike, GP19 MotoGP race bike to be more specific.

The machine that is in this bike will have a high power output. We know that the bike will have a racing livery, Biplane wings for downforce that will help the bike produce 67% more downforce than V4R superbike. The engine will produce 234 horsepower. Also, the bike will have a frame completely made from carbon.

We also have a leaked video for this motorcycle. Well, we don’t know if this video is official, but it sure looks like it. Determine for yourself!

Curtiss Motorcycles Is A Company That Wants To Create Timeless Electric Motorcycles!

0

Curtiss Motorcycles is a peculiar player in the electric motorcycle market. The people behind this company used to run Confederate Motorcycles. They created some fantastic V-twin machines. Eventually, the company was sold in 2018, and continues to produce amazing V-twin machines.

Curtiss Motorcycles produces unique-looking bikes that people are either going to love or hate. Also, the price tags on their bikes are obnoxious for a regular consumer. Nevertheless, their bikes feature a unique style, and the market for them is obvious. People who have a lot of money to burn and want to stand out from the bunch will definitely enjoy these motorcycles. The bikes definitely look more like art pieces rather than usable machines.

RideApart managed to get some interesting information from Matt Chambers, the CEO of Curtiss Motorcycles. He told that he sees his bikes as “timeless machines” and something that should be passed on, from generation to generation. Chambers also said that his company is working on new battery technology and more upgrades for their bikes.

Well, the current battery technology makes the motorcycles from Curtiss Motorcycles not likely to be relevant in the next 20 years. We hope that they manage to implement the upgrades for their motorcycles. Also, Curtiss has some new models in the works. The company definitely gets kudos for thinking out of the box and trying something different.

Ducati Comes Out Of 2019 With Strong Sales!

0

The press release from Ducati shows very successful sales results for 2019! To make things short, Ducati managed to sell 53,183 motorcycles in 90 countries. The most profitable market for Ducati is still the Italian market. Nevertheless, Brazil, China, and Spain are becoming larger markets for Ducati each passing day.

The sales results from 2019 tell that Ducati sold 180 more motorcycles than in 2018. While that may not be such a huge number, Ducati is attaining its goal, and that is incremental growth. The bike that stands out from the Ducati lineup is the Panigale. Actually, it is the best-selling superbike in the world right now. They sold more than 8,300 Panigales in 2019.

Claudio Domenicali, CEO of Ducati says that 2019 was a tough but very rewarding year for his company. He is enthusiastic about the further growth of his company and believes that Ducati is the most desirable motorcycle brand in the world.

Also, the important information is that Ducati sales in the USA were about 2% lower than in 2018. Well, we can attribute that to generally lower motorcycle sales on that market in 2019. Even some strong markets, such as the Indian market, have struggled this year. Because of that, it is really impressive to see the growth that Ducati has achieved.

MV Agusta Superveloce 800 Wins The Best Looking Motorcycle Of 2020 Award!

0

The Centro Ricerche Castiglioni design team has earned a notable award for the Superveloce 800. This bike is recognized as one of Lombardy’s Design Excellences from the Association for Industrial Design and the Regional Government of Lombardy. The Superveloce 800 was unveiled in 2019 as a prototype. Now, it has entered its production phase at the factory near Milan.

The Design Director, Adrian Mortin is honored with winning this prize. He claims that this award wouldn’t happen if not for the energetic and passionate design team he directs.

The backbone of the Superveloce 800 is the F3 800 engine. It is an 800cc engine, that emphasizes speed. The form of this bike also brings this vision to life. For example, the nose and the tail look like the inspiration from the past. The bike, as a result, looks like a mix of old and new design features. It certainly doesn’t look like a cheesy neo-retro motorcycle.

Well, the awards may not stop for Superveloce 800. The team is also nominated for the prestigious Compasso d’Oro 2020 accolade.

The praise may continue into 2020 as well, as the Superveloce is also in the running for ADI’s prestigious Compasso d’Oro 2020 award.

All You Have To Know About Dual Homologated (PJ DUAL) Motorcycle Helmets!

So, when wearing a motorcycle helmet, one of the main things that you must be aware of is safety. There are numerous motorcycle helmets that market themselves as being safe; from half face to full face, to modular helmets. But, how can you know that you aren’t being misled by the manufacturers when it comes to motorcycle helmet safety? Well, if you’ve heard of dual homologated motorcycle helmets or not; these are the modular helmets that you should look out for! They are your safest bet that you will get high-quality motorcycle helmets, and that you aren’t being scammed!

Let’s dive into what actually are dual homologated motorcycle helmets, with some examples on the motorcycle market!

What is a PJ dual homologated motorcycle helmet?

This term can only be applied to modular helmets, though. So, if you are looking for a modular helmet, make sure that it is one of the dual homologated motorcycle helmets!

First of all, let’s clear up what it actually means for a helmet to be homologated. The helmet has to be approved by the ECE motorcycle helmet certification. This is a European motorcycle testing standard that proves that the modular helmet in question can protect you from a potentially fatal crash. That means that the modular helmet can offer you superb protection with the chin guard both up and down, hence the dual prefix. Of course, that doesn’t mean that you should chase the crash to test it yourself!

What are the PJ DUAL helmets?

Maybe you heard about yet another term for dual homologated motorcycle helmets – PJ DUAL helmets. Let’s break down on the meaning of this shortened term.

Most flip-up or modular motorcycle helmets feature a design that provides optimal protection with the chin guard down. That way, these helmets can serve as full-face helmets. If that is the case, then the helmet in question has a type P certification. This type of certification indicates a protective face covering.

When the helmet passes the safety test with the chin guard up, that earns the helmet a type J certification. In that case, the motorcycle helmet in question serves as an open-face helmet with superior protection.

Now, when you combine these two types of certifications, you get a PJ DUAL type of helmets. Simple, right? Well, if you find a helmet that has both certification types, you can be sure that the helmet in question is a dual homologated motorcycle helmet.

Some special cases…

There are some rare helmets that don’t have a type P certification. In such a case, there should be a clear indication somewhere on the helmet that its chin guard doesn’t provide protection. You can usually find this indication on the chin strap of the helmet. Such helmets have the NP label, which stands for non-protective.

The point to keep in mind is that you actually don’t need to have any concerns for dual homologated motorcycle helmets – if you live outside of the EU zone or ECE 22-05 zones.

We recommend you to buy a PJ DUAL type of helmet if you are looking for a high-quality modular helmet. That way, it’s a safe bet that the helmet will certainly perform better in times of need. You can’t be too safe these days!

The Best PJ Dual Homologated Motorcycles On The Market!

Now that you know what are dual homologated motorcycle helmets, let’s check out what are some of the best and most popular of these on the market!

VINS Announces Its New Electric Motorcycle – The EV-01!

0

Very exciting news for VINS fans! They announced their latest machine. It is called EV-01 and it is obviously an electric sports motorcycle. The EV-01 is strikingly similar to Duecinquanta, yet another VINS motorcycle with a two-stroke, 250cc machine. Well, the main difference is the engine itself, as EV-01 has an all-electric engine, borrowed from Zero electric motorcycle.

Like other motorcycles from VINS, the EV-01 features a lot of carbon fibre coatings, as well as a monocoque frame that links superb chassis components. The frame is made of carbon fibre too. Because of the use of alluring materials, the EV-01 weighs just 170kg! Most electric motorcycles can’t come close to this number!

The performance of this bike is surprisingly good too! Its top speed is 125mph and is backed up by the 70hp, 150nm engine. We still have no information on the battery range. If we look at their stock model, Zero DS; it will be 80 – 100 miles per charge. The recharge time for the bike will be approximately 10 hours with a three-pin plug. If you opt for the charge tank and DC fast charger, then the charge time will be 2.5 hours.

BMW Is Working On A Wireless Charging For Electric Motorcycles!

0

Electric motorcycles enjoy a rise in popularity every day. Actually, this sector of the motorcycle industry is arguably the fastest-growing – but, there is still a long road ahead. The consumers still aren’t fully convinced that electric motorcycles are better than their gas-powered counterparts.

Well, the primary question mark that rises above the consumers’ heads is the excitement the bike provides. The more realistic, and more pressing question about the future of the electric motorcycles is the infrastructure itself. By that, we mean the charging methods.

Thanks to the growth of electric vehicles, the charging segment in the automotive sector has developed quite profoundly. Now, you can see charging spots in all major cities around Europe and the rest of the developed world. Some businesses offer home charging too!

Well, as we already mentioned, the charging mechanisms and methods still have lots to improve on. It seems that BMW wants to take a step forward. This step is – wireless charging. BMW has already started to build upon this idea with BMW cars. The concept is simple – you park your vehicle above a static pad that sends a wireless charge. It is a similar concept to a phone pad charger.

For now, this technology proved to be unreliable. Regardless of that, BMW aims to develop a wireless charge pad for motorcycles. From some patent filing, we know that BMW wants to achieve this by making the kickstand as a charging point. Then, it would send the signals through the bike, charging it effectively. The assumption is that direct contact makes for a much quicker and effective way to charge a bike, without the need for wires.

With this information in mind, we can see BMW as one of the pioneers of this motorcycle market segment in the future. Right now, they don’t offer much; just the C Evolution scooter. We know that they are planning to create more electric motorcycles in the future, so that’s a good sign for sure!

This technology may make replacement kickstands cost a fortune. Nevertheless, the main pain point of electric motorcycles – the charging; could be completely eliminated with such technology.

Roux Helmets and Pininfarina Designed A Water-Cooled Helmet!

0

While this piece of gear is made with the car industry in mind, one cannot help but theorize its application in the motorcycle industry. Pininfarina and Roux Helmets announced a collaboration in early December, at the Performance Racing Industry in Indianapolis. They showed off a pair of sophisticated water-cooled racing helmets. Yes, you heard that right, a helmet with water cooling! Sounds cool, right?

As we already mentioned, these helmets are made with car racing in mind. Well, the helmets feature some specifics that can, and probably will, be implemented in the motorcycle niche too. The main selling feature of these helmets is the water cooling system that keeps the water circulating around the rider’s head. It can be also connected to the CoolShirt system that will keep your head and torso cool, even when it’s extremely hot in a race car. A smaller variant could be certainly manageable for a motorcycle rider. Maybe with a dedicated cooler?

Along with the water cooler, this helmet also has a built-in drinking tube. No need for additional hydration means! The shell of the helmet is made of lightweight carbon fiber. It also features a microphone and noise-canceling speakers. This sounds perfect for motorcycle riders, especially when you consider Bluetooth support.

What we can notice from the racing gear market is that this gear often arrives to the mass market too. Well, that’s why helmets were adopted in the first place, actually. Most manufacturers look outside the motorcycle market for some gear inspiration.

Of course, water-cooled helmets for motorcycles are a mile away, at least for a common consumer. But, we can take the motorcycle airbags as an example, as they weren’t widely used not a while ago. Now, there are everywhere, at reasonable prices. Maybe the water-cooled helmets will face the same journey.

Dunlop Launches the Mutant – the All-Season Tires For 2020!

0

Dunlop is on a sort of streak lately. They built momentum with their adventure tires in October. To further build upon that momentum, they announced a redesign of flat-track racing tires in December. For 2020, they are planning to build up even more on the established momentum in 2019. Dunlop will launch an all-weather tire that is supported by more than 370 bike models, this month. The tire can adapt to a wide range of bikes and is versatile for all seasons. Hence its name – the Mutant.

Dunlop seeks to provide a new tire alternative for all four seasons to fit all bikers. So, the Mutant is compatible with a wide range of motorbikes, from adventure and sports bikes to naked and retro bikes. We don’t doubt their capabilities to create such a tire, as they have already proved themselves with hypersport and touring tires. They will also utilize the technology used for wet racing in the Mutant’s design.

The technology that backs up the Mutant is labeled ‘4 Season Technology’. It is made possible by mixing compounds that can adapt to even the harshest weather conditions and climates. The tire has an official ‘M+S’ classification, which stands for great performance in mud and snow.

The tread patterns on the Mutant also showcase the proficiency and thoughtfulness of its creator. It features a series of blocks shaped like slashes and diamonds. This tread is very similar to a combination of flat-track and wet-weather tires. So, this design choice will enable the Mutant to perform in a variety of different and challenging situations.

Check out more information on the Dunlop, and find the dealerships that sell it on the Dunlop website!
