The HJC RPHA 11 Pro Carbon Helmet has been waiting for our review for a while.

It is indeed an incredible racing Carbon helmet for the price. Although it was released back in 2016, it is still alive and well. We would like to dig deeper in this wonderful option.

Are you on a budget? If that’s the case, we are certain you will fall in love with this one. Let’s get into it!

Back in 2016 we could already tell that this racing helmet was deserving of our praises. HJC has done wonderful work with this one, which has a nice Italian inspiration when it comes to design.

With our review of the HJC RPHA 11 Pro we would really like to get into the details. We are going to discuss its technicalities and innovations, so you can decide for yourself if this is the helmet that you have been looking for.

The Pro version comes in with a weight of 1,4 kilograms. This is a balanced helmet out of the box. Certainly quite an improvement from the regular version of the product.

In order to achieve this final result, HJC has used new materials, such as carbon fiber, fiberglass, organic resins and aramid. A clever decision that results in a light helmet which is also stronger than its predecessor.

Without further ado, let’s begin with the ventilation system of this amazing helmet!

A beautiful design with plenty of vents

Just by looking at the helmet, you might deduce that there are quite a few vents on this one. It has six on the front and four on the back, with a total of ten vents.

If you think about this helmet from a full-face standpoint, our experience is that it vents better than any other helmet we’ve tried on any price range. Ever.

The air will flow from the front to the back, but also through the chin. There is a switch that will allow you to open and close those last ones.

So if you struggle with the ventilation system of your current helmet, this might be a great option. It is really amazing on that, and definitely a step forward from the previous version.

A really good aerodynamic profile

Another relevant feature of the HJC RPHA 11 Pro Carbon is its aerodynamic profile. As the design is a bit more compact, we feel that this one performs better on that area.

The HJC team has overhauled the shield and its mechanism. Now you get a dark shield with race tearoffs as well as pin lock ready.

You don’t like that? No worries! They have you covered with an additional clear shield. Both are heavy-duty with optically correct polycarbonate.

In addition to that, the shield mechanism is efficient as expected from HJC. The overall look of the helmet is nice and kind of aggressive, especially when using the dark shield.

The HJC RPHA 11 Pro Carbon has a bit of a sizing issue

If we were to highlight something negative about the HJC RPHA 11 Pro is the fact that the sizing system is not the best.

It has an intermediate oval design which makes it race fit, and that is certainly great. However, if you wore a medium size in previous HJC helmets, you will need a large one on the Pro version.

This is a bit frustrating if you have been using their helmets for a while, as the sizing becomes an issue and you may find that the fit is not just perfect.

If you want to make a safe purchase, just buy one size up and we believe you will be fine.

A strong competitor on the £350 price tag

When you look at the HJC RPHA 11 Pro Carbon, you must consider that you are getting a premium feature set on a budget. Other helmets that have similar capabilities could cost you up to 650 pounds. There is quite a difference!

So… where is the catch? The definitely cut some corners on a few details. One of them is the sizing, and other is the shield mechanism. It really lacks the the performance that we would expect from HJC, as it comes down way too easily.

That would be the only feature that we really don’t like about this helmet. If you are planning on changing the dark and clear shield quite often, this might come in handy. Other than that, the shield system might be a deal breaker for some.

Mind you, if you consider the £350 price tag, it doesn’t really get better than this one. Those issues become a minor thing is you take into account all the amazing features from this racing helmet. It is just a killer job from HJC!

The Pro says it all

Some of the advantages of the clever design of this helmet is the fact that it is quite a leap from its predecessor.

HJC is really in for improvements, and they have delivered what was required to make a Pro version. Therefore, the HJC RPHA 11 Pro Carbon includes:

  • Better resistance to noise, wind and overall weather.
  • Extra visibility by adding some millimeters to the shield’s length top to bottom.
  • They changed the location of the vents, improving the aerodynamic profile.

Now let’s look at the inside of the helmet. There, you will find that it has a better cut out on the side, so it includes an emergency cheek pad removal system, among other great features.

Inside the HJC RPHA 11 Pro Carbon

As commented before, on the inside the first thing that will get your attention is the emergency cheek pad removal system. This is a key security feature, that will certainly be valued by any rider.

HJC has chosen Polly Jean as their new material for the inside. It not only looks better, it also feels way nicer. It is certainly a premium quality material that represents an upgrade from its predecessor.

Another advantage is that it results in an antimicrobial interior, which also is really good against sweat. In addition to that, there is plenty of room for glasses and sunglasses. So that is something you might want to consider!

The shell has a cover of material which you may remove. By doing so, it is possible to wash the entire inside of the HJC RPHA 11 Pro Carbon. If you are one of those riders who lives in a hot area, this is certainly a plus.

Finally, the helmet includes a nice speaker pocket, which is also removable. If you are not planning on using that, they’ve got you covered, as they included two pieces with dense material to cover the gap. By using it, you will reduce the wind noise quite substantially.

HJC RPHA 11 Pro’s review takeaway

If you are looking for a Race Lightweight Carbon helmet that is affordable, this product from HJC might be exactly what you have been looking for.

Although it has some minor issues as far as the design is concerned, the helmet really stands out of its competitors on this price range. We have yet to see such a good value for the price you are paying.

Light, comfortable, safe and solid, this is a great helmet for the price. It has a brilliant vent system design, and is definitely an improvement over its previous version.

All things consider, just remember to size up your HJC RPHA 11 Pro. Besides that tip, we can’t help but recommend this amazing racing helmet.

Bajaj and Triumph Start A New Partnership With 6 New Motorcycles!

Bajaj and Triumph made a deal a while back in which they agreed to make small-displacement motorcycles together! Now, we have some more specifics on what the first part of this deal will comprise. So, they will start their partnership with six motorcycles under the A2 license classification (UK classification).

The bikes will utilize 395cc and won’t make more than 47 horsepower. These numbers put them just in the middle of the displacement motorcycle category. The 6 motorcycles are set to launch in Europe and Asia. There is no talk about the North America launch.

Details about the bikes are minimal for now. Bajaj and Triumph may change the specifications of these 6 bikes by the time they are launched.

Hero MotoCorp Unveils Its First-Ever Electric Motorcycle!

Hero MotoCorp has unveiled its first-ever electric motorcycle! It is called AE-47, and it looks really nice. We won’t probably see this motorcycle on the North American market due to its specifications. Anyway, the AE-47 utilizes a hub-mounted motor, with a decent range.

According to some sources, this electric motorcycle has a 4kW motor and a 3.5kWh Li-ion battery. Based on these facts, don’t expect to travel large distances or ride fast with this electric motorcycle. What we know is that this bike has 74.5 miles range in eco mode, and 53 miles range in power mode. Its top speed is 52 mph, albeit it will take you a bit longer to actually come to this number. This bike gets from 0 to 37 mph in 9 seconds!

What are some of the other features of this electric motorcycle? Some of them are:

  • Keyless access
  • Mobile charger
  • Walk assistance
  • Dedicated application for the bike
  • Digital instrument cluster

While this motorcycle might just be fit for the city rides, it is questionable if it will become a hit. Well, maybe it will be an alternative to the numerous electric scooters that are so crowded in this market. Time will tell, that’s for sure.

Updates Released For The 2020 Indian Roadmaster Elite!

It seems that Indian is following the tracks set by Harley-Davidson. At least when it comes to limited-edition motorcycles. They are launching the 2020 Roadmaster Elite, which is an update of the existing model.

So, the 2020 Indian Roadmaster Elite comes at a high price, but it is certainly worth it. This is a hand-built machine, and it takes Indian more than 30 hours to finish one bike. It utilizes the Thunder Stroke 116 V-twin engine.

So, what does the Vice President of the Indian Motorcycle say about this particular model? He says that the original Roadmaster delivers the best touring experience, but that the Elite variant ramps up the experience to the next level. Also, he claims that the Elite variant was designed for riders who are keen on intimate details.

Some of the great new features of this bike are:

  • PowerBand Audio Plus system
  • Custom paint job
  • Premium leather seat
  • Indian Motorcycle Ride Command system

We still don’t know the price of the machine, as Indian states that you should contact your local dealership for this detail. So, we can only presume that this machine will be extremely expensive!

This is not such a bummer of a price considering that this helmet is actually a dual-homologated helmet! Also, the shell of the helmet is quite durable. It is made of PC/ABS material, which makes it very light when you put it on your head.

Bell Broozer Helmet For Sale

The weight of the Bell Broozer helmet is just 1350 grams, which is pretty lightweight for a full-face configured helmet. When you remove the jaw guard, you save a couple of hundred grams more in weight. It is certainly a low profile helmet, but not the thinnest one on the market. Still, extra points to Bell for making a modular helmet that is so lightweight and comfortable to have on your head.

As a cherry on top of the package, Bell offers a 5-year guarantee for this helmet (as with all their other helmets). This is just a testament to the quality that this company offers!

In the next sections, we are going to break down the main features of the Bell Broozer motorcycle helmet!

The Configuration

As we already specified, this motorcycle helmet is dual-homologated. That means that it features two configurations; the helmet is both full-face and open-face.

So, how to switch between these two configurations? Well, there is a removable chin bar that features some clever design. On the underside of the helmet, you can see two gray hooks. You can simply pull off the chin bar from these gray hooks. Of course, we don’t recommend doing that while on the go!

Nevertheless, the removable chin bar turns a helmet that looks a bit limited on the first sight into something that is very versatile. For example, during a very hot day, you can make this helmet open-face. Should it start to rain, you can easily convert it back to the full-face configuration. As the chin guard is very light, you can carry it in your bag or luggage department.

Basically, with this helmet, you get two helmets! Changing between the two configurations is effortless and well-executed. Of course, this isn’t the first helmet to do this but is one of the rare ones that make the process much easier for the rider.

The Visor

You can easily drop down the visor which is built into the helmet itself. The main benefit of this built-in design is that the helmet doesn’t lift up that much like the standard full-face helmet, as there are no small spots that catch air.

Also, there are small tabs on each side of the brow that slide down the visor. We have to mention that the visor of the Bell Broozer helmet features anti-fog coating and is anti-scratch too!

An important thing to mention is that the Bell Broozer motorcycle helmet is eyewear compatible! As the visor is internally retractable, there is some space above the cheek pads that allow you to wear glasses underneath the visor. Of course, it is more likely that you will wear eyewear with the open-face configuration. Still, it is good to know that Bell has this smart implementation!

Anyway, the visor adds up to the overall aesthetics of the Broozer helmet, giving a nice, edgy look to the shell.

The Interior

Inside the helmet, you can find earpads fixed to the helmet thanks to the Velcro snaps and strips. Sadly, there are no cut-outs for speakers, if you perhaps want to use some kind of helmet communication system. The removable EPS liner and the ear pads are padded lightly and will pop out of the helmet with much ease.

Also, the Bell Broozer helmet features the signature ratchet-style chin strap that is highly adjustable. The system is very simple and offers a quick release of the strap.

The Ventilation

You can find practical and usable vents either at the top of the helmet or on the chin bar. Both of these vents are easily operational, even during the ride; with gloves on as well.

There are no exit vents, but the EPS liner inside the shell is furrowed. This provides additional airflow over the skull of the rider. That is a good compromise on the Bells’ behalf. The EPS liner is removable and washable; and quite comfortable as well. This makes it quite practical for long-term use.

The versatile nature of the Bell Broozer motorcycle helmet should give it much appeal to the riders all over the world. You can go from open-face to the full-face configuration in a single snap. Not to mention its low price tag for what it offers!

So, how will the bike look like? Well, it sports a black look and distinctive badges. Also, it is powered by the Milwaukee 114 V-twin engine. The bike also has bronze accents which really point out the superior design of the bike. You can get this motorcycle for $21,949 (£16,950 or €20,000). Well, this is yet another very expensive motorcycle from Harley-Davidson!

Well, these two motorcycles won’t attract too many new customers to Harley-Davidson’s lineup, that’s for sure! We certainly understand that they are making these limited variants of their existing bikes to maintain their brand image.

Regardless of that, it would be really nice to see some cheaper Softail designs that have a price tag under $10,000. It would certainly improve the brand image more effectively than an insanely-priced 30th Anniversary Edition Fat Boy.

The updated Road Glide is an okay move, as Harley targets people with heftier bank accounts with this one!

Kawasaki Is Returning To The ADV Market With KLX 700?

Kawasaki might return to the ADV market after they discontinued the captivating KLR 650 in 2018. Well, their return may be a stylish one, as they produce some of the best off-road and dual-sport motorcycles. There is no doubt that they have the talent to make one of the best ADV bikes. So, there are some rumors circulating that the new KLX 700 will essentially be Kawasaki’s glorious return to the ADV bike market.

We still don’t have any clear details on the specifications of this bike. The only thing we know is from the rumor that claims that the KLX 700 will utilize a 649cc parallel-twin engine, which is used in Ninja and Versys.

Well, it would be very interesting to see if Kawasaki is really planning a return to the ADV market. If they do it, there will be a huge possibility that they take a huge chunk of the ADV bike market pie.

Yamaha is reportedly planning to launch the third model in its XSR line of motorcycles! For now, the two bikes in this line are 700 and 900, and it seems that 300 will join this pair, making it a trio! This move makes sense for Yamaha, of course! Let’s find out why!

Well, Yamaha has one segment of motorcycles they call Sport Heritage. In this segment, there is a small bike, V-Star 250, which is on the market for a while now. Now, for some specifications of this bike!

V-Star 250 is a 250cc beginner cruiser motorcycle with a V-twin engine. It is one of the most renowned motorcycles from Yamaha, but there is one problem. The problem is that this bike is outdated. So, we don’t know for how long will this motorcycle survive on the market, without an impactful update.

The remedy to this problem could be the XSR 300. To update the aging V-Star 250, Yamaha could just take the MT-03 base and construct the XSR 300. By doing that, they would essentially get the Sport Heritage motorcycle that features a smaller displacement and is beginner-friendly. Not to mention the more varied lineup!

Well, for now; we can only speculate, as Yamaha still didn’t say anything officially. Nevertheless, we will pay close attention to how the creation of this bike will go along!

If you are into sport and sport touring riding, this new helmet might just be the perfect match for you. The Scorpion EXO-ST1400 Carbon is the company’s new high-end product.

That means that they’ve put a lot of time and effort into this helmet. The result, as you will see in our review, it’s really good. But not flawless.

As far as the price of the Scorpion EXO-ST1400 Carbon it is only 390£. This is truly a bargain, if you take into account the fact that we are talking about a 3k carbon helmet.

That is certainly one of the things we like the most about Scorpion as a brand: the product you get for the money is just fantastic.

Moving forward with out review, we’d like to show you some of the features of the actual helmet. There are things we love, and others that we don’t enjoy all that much. If that sounds interesting, let’s get into it!

Looking at the Scorpion’s shell: pure 3k carbon

One of the main features of this helmet is the 3k carbon shell. It will provide you with a great fit and finish, making this a very good-looking product.

One of the advantages of this clever design is that you may choose from three different shell sizes. Scorpion really wants to make sure that you find the one that fits you perfectly, so they offer options within each size. Isn’t that great?

Whether you are looking for a small, medium or XL helmet, they have you covered. Great!

Scorpion EXO-ST1400 Carbon girl

The Scorpion EXO-ST1400 Carbon is also very well designed. Thus, it is extremely lightweight and aerodynamic. The actual shell is CAD certified, so they really did a good job as far as that last feature, specially when it comes to high speeds.

From the inside of the shell, you will find and intermediate oval. This makes the helmet a bit longer from front to back, and perhaps a little bit too narrow on the side of the head.

In any case, we believe that this will fit the vast majority of riders.

The Scorpion EXO-ST1400 Carbon has a beautiful design from front to back

With this helmet you get two face shields which are included in the box. One of those two is the regular face shield, and then a pin lock one. You may choose which mechanism you like the most.

One of the issues is that you will have to drop down the sun visor on its own. It works, but it was kind of sturdy in our opinion. Not a major problem, but something that picky riders will love to know about.

What is indeed something to be concerned about is the fact that the sun visor doesn’t drop down enough. This will certainly be a factor to take into account for some riders. That extra coverage would be valuable in very sunny contexts, for sure.

The front center point of the helmet has some issues on its own. You will find no problem with it, but the mechanism is certainly not pure satisfaction. As the vent is located right there, sometimes you close it accidentally. Kind of annoying.

All in all, the design of the Scorpion EXO-ST1400 Carbon is good for the price. You can find better options, yes. But the cost will certainly be higher.

It’s all about ventilation and aerodynamics

We do miss some ventilation on the helmet. Although we know this changes a lot from one rider to another, our perspective is that this product lacks some extra airflow that would make it great.

You will find one chimney vent up top, which is absolutely great. There is another one on the chin, and you may interact with those two from a switch on top of the helmet. The exhaust vent out the back is a passive one, so you will likely miss some brow mounts or simply a larger vent up top.

The airflow in the Scorpion EXO-ST1400 Carbon is absolutely not a problem. But leaves some extras to be desired.

When it comes to aerodynamics, the company has taken the game to a whole new level. This is a very sleek helmet, a great job when it comes to design. Easy to fit, to ride in, even at really high speeds.

If we were to pick one feature, it will certainly be how great this helmet fits and how aerodynamic it is. We cannot highlight this factor enough.

The inside of the Scorpion EXO-ST1400 Carbon

One of the things that you will notice is that you have a chin curtain up front, that will easily pop out on demand.

Get that out of the way, and you will find the emergency quick release cheek pads. Those are easily pulled out when needed. They do feel really nice, as they are contoured all the way to the back of the helmet.

One of the perks of the material that they’ve chosen for the inside of the Scorpion EXO-ST1400 Carbon is that it will help wick the sweat away. Furthermore, you can remove all the pieces from the inside and wash them, which is definitely a plus.

What about the speaker pockets and sound?

As the cheek pads go all the way around the head, they will also help to reduce the noise around you. It is certainly not a noise cancelling system, but it will allow you enjoy more your rides.

Mind you, there is room for the speaker system right under the pads. But you will have to remove some of them, which will have some impact on how comfortable the helmet feels. Nothing major or to worry about.

The speaker pockets are nice and deep. They just feel solid, so they will definitely not end up pressing against your ears.

Discover Scorpion’s air flow system

If you never heard of Scorpion’s air flow system, you will be blown away but this feature, which is included in the Scorpion EXO-ST1400 Carbon.

What it does is pump in some air to the systems on the sides and chin. This will feel like really nice, as it will inflate the bladders within the shell, providing an amazing comfort to the user.

Awesome news for motorcycle helmet owners and enthusiasts alike! The parent company of Shark, a French helmet manufacturer, obtained the parent company of Nolan Helmets.

So, why is this a huge move for the 2Ride Holding Group? Well, the parent company of Nolan owns popular European helmet brands like Grex and X-lite helmets. These brands are not so popular on the North American market, though.

On the other hand, 2Ride Holding Group has several motorcycle helmet brands under their name, which also aren’t so popular in North America. Of course, Shark and Nolan are very popular in North America, but this acquisition will probably have a more positive impact on the European market.

Nonetheless, the president of 2Ride Holding Group thinks that this acquisition could help them with a tighter grasp on the North American market. He wants the two groups to work together and connect the experts from Italy and France, to create the safest motorcycle helmets fit for the global market.

We are definitely interested to see how will Nolan change its lineup after this acquisition.
