Without further ado, let’s begin!

1) Shoei RF-1400 – Most Versatile Full-Face Motorcycle Helmet

Shoei RF-1400 - Most Versatile Full-Face Motorcycle Helmet

Shoei RF-1200 dominated the full-face motorcycle helmet market for eight years until the RF-1400 was launched this year. We can confidently say that the RF-1400 is one of the best full-face motorcycle helmets of 2021, mainly because of its premium quality and high versatility.

This is an incredibly safe helmet that meets DOT, ECE, and Snell 2020 safety certifications. Its AIM+ shell construction features four organic fiber and resin layers, resulting in higher safety. Along with that, the RF-1400’s shape promotes aerodynamics and less wind noise fit either for the race track or roads.

Also, the ventilation is highly revamped, offering a more comfy ride. Along with that, Shoei RF-1400 feels more comfortable than its predecessor, thanks to the updated inner padding. Extra visibility here is attained by the wider visor that is easy to replace, thanks to the new baseplate system.

The only thing we don’t particularly like about the RF-1400 is that it has a clunky visor locking mechanism, and its intermediate oval shape won’t fit round heads.

Overall, if looking for the most versatile full-face motorcycle helmet out there, the Shoei RF-1400 will be an excellent fit for you. It will cost you $529/£385.

PROS

  • Extremely safe
  • Versatile
  • Awesome ventilation
  • Great visibility
  • Comfortable
  • CONS

  • Clunky visor locking mechanism
  • Won’t fit round heads
  • 2) AGV Pista GP R – Best Sports Full-Face Motorcycle Helmet

AGV Pista GP R - Best Sports Full-Face Motorcycle Helmet

Next up is the full-face helmet mainly designed for the race track, worn by Valentino Rossi himself. What makes the AGV Pista GP R one of the best helmets to take on the road with you?

First of all, it features a shell entirely made of carbon fiber. It makes the shell very durable and light at the same time, at 2,87 pounds (1,3 kg). Also, the helmet is much more aerodynamic due to this material, and the inclusion of the biplane spoiler provides more stability in high-speed rides. Hence, this helmet is the best for low-riding positions, so don’t expect this one to perform the best in an upright riding position.

Check out our AGV reviews section for more content!

Ventilation of the GP R is nice, but the only gripe we have is that the vents are hard to adjust on the move, as vents have rubber stoppers. The 5mm thick visor comes with a Pinlock insert and has a vast field of view. Also, the GP R feels quite plushy and comfortable and even comes with a hydration system, which is a nice bonus!

AGV Pista GP R is first and foremost a racing helmet, but you bet that this one will keep you safe and comfortable on the fast roads too! It will cost you a bunch, though, as its current price is $1,030/£750.

    PROS

  • Highly durable and lightweight
  • Aerodynamic
  • Nice ventilation
  • Feels comfortable
  • Wide field of view
  • CONS

  • Not the best for upright riding positions
  • Vents are hard to adjust in motion
  • 3) Bell Racestar Flex DLX – Safest Full-Face Motorcycle Helmet

Bell Racestar Flex DLX - Safest Full-Face Motorcycle Helmet

Our third entry on our best full-face motorcycle helmets of 2021/2022 list goes to the Bell Racestar Flex DLX. It’s an awesome motorcycle helmet for sport riders, as it is focused on safety and high aerodynamics.

Its shell is made of 3k carbon fiber and has a multi-layer EPS liner to keep things safe. Actually, it has DOT, ECE, and a 5-star rating from SHARP, so this helmet will keep your head safe. Also, it weighs only 3,14 pounds (1,43 kg).

The Flex Energy Management System allows for more robust airflow that makes things much more comfortable on the road. Also, the visor is extra-wide, and you get an additional dark tinted visor for the sun rides.

Same as the exterior, the interior of the Racestar Flex DLX is high quality. The inner liner is plush, cheek pads have an emergency release mechanism, and the double D-ring has a magnetic closure. But the real star here is the Flex Energy Management System with three additional layers for low, medium, and high-speed protection.

Overall, this is one of the safest full-face motorcycle helmets you can get on the market, although it has some issues such as high wind noise and a bit heavier size for larger shell sizes. In the end, if you value helmet safety, the Racestar Flex DLX has got you covered for $735/£535.

For a more in-depth look, check out our Bell Racestar Flex DLX review!

    PROS

  • Flex Energy Management System is amazing
  • High aerodynamics
  • Great airflow
  • Extra-wide field of view
  • Very comfortable
  • CONS

  • Larger shells are heavier than average
  • Lets in quite a lot of wind noise
  • 4) Icon Airflite – Best Budget Full-Face Motorcycle Helmet

Icon Airflite - Best Budget Full-Face Motorcycle Helmet

If looking for the best full-face motorcycle helmet for a low budget, look no further – Icon Airflite got you covered! It’s also one of the best budget touring motorcycle helmets on the market, as it costs $265/£193.

Don’t expect to have the safest or the lightest helmet here, as Airflite has a polycarbonate shell with a dual-density EPS for better impact absorption. It weighs a whopping 3,75 pounds (1,7 kg) and meets DOT and ECE safety certifications. Also, it has only 3 stars on SHARP tests due to low protection for the forehead and sides of the head.

Check out our Icon helmets review section for more reviews!

Moving to the brighter side, the ventilation of this helmet performs pretty well and should provide ample airflow. The real star of the show from a styling and functional perspective is the extra-large visor that goes all the way down to the chin vent and gives off strong Bane vibes. It is Pinlock-ready, and there is an additional inner sun visor to keep the sun rays at bay.

There is nothing too groundbreaking from a comfort standpoint, but the helmet overall feels quite comfortable for the price you have to pay for it. Also, the wind noise is kinda high with this helmet, so keep this in mind.

Icon Airflite has got some drawbacks, sure. But the number of various graphic designs, the large visor, and a comfy interior make this full-face motorcycle helmet one of the best full-face motorcycle helmets of 2021!

    PROS

  • Very affordable
  • Comes in a variety of cool graphic designs
  • Extra-large visor
  • Nice airflow
  • CONS

  • A bit heavier
  • Not the best protection
  • 5) Arai Signet-X – Most Comfortable Full-Face Motorcycle Helmet

Arai Signet-X - Most Comfortable Full-Face Motorcycle Helmet

Arai is known for its craftsmanship and comfort, and it’s no different with its Signet-X helmet. This is a well-balanced motorcycle helmet for sport and touring riders. It’s one of the rare full-face lids tailored for long oval heads.

First of all, this is one of the safest Arai lids out there, with DOT and ECE certifications, Snell rating, and a 5-star SHARP rating. This is all thanks to the multi-layered fiberglass shell along with the multi-density EPS liner. Basically, what you see in Arai racing helmets, it’s there in the Signet-X.

The face shield is designed in a way that integrates with the shell, providing a smooth look. This quick-release face shield is fitted with a Pinlock insert, along with a thoughtful locking mechanism. Also, the face shield provides a wide field of view, which is more than wanted with full-face lids. Some people struggle to lock/unlock and remove the shield, but after a few tries, it comes as natural.

Signet-X is full of vents and it keeps you well-ventilated during the hotter days. If you ride this one out in winter, make sure to bring a Pinlock insert to keep the visor from fogging up. The noise is noticeably lower than on similar full-face lids, although the Signet-X pulls in more noise than the Signet-Q.

Arai is king when it comes to comfort, and it comes to light with the Signet-X. The comfort liner is comfier than ever. It even tailors to long oval heads, a rarity in the motorcycle helmet world. In addition, the cheek pads feature foam springs to tailor the fit to your head further. These small things make it one of the comfiest full-face motorcycle helmets of 2021!

Overall, if looking for the best full-face helmet for long rides, Arai Signet-X got you covered for $680/£493!

    PROS

  • One of the safest full-face lids
  • Well-balanced for sport and touring riders
  • Extra comfortable, even for long oval heads
  • Nice ventilation
  • CONS

  • Face shield mechanism is a bit complicated
  • 6) Shoei RF-SR – Best Mid-Range Full-Face Motorcycle Helmet

    Shoei RF-SR - Best Mid-Range Full-Face Motorcycle Helmet

For a mid-range motorcycle helmet that comes around the $420/£305, Shoei RF-SR is quite an all-rounder, even though it performs better at few specific segments. In summary, it has all the premium craftsmanship you would expect from Shoei, but at a reasonable price tag.

Like most newer Shoei helmets, this lid has a shell made of a composite of fiberglass and organic fibers. This translates to a 5-star SHARP rating, Snell rating, as well as ECE and DOT safety certifications.

RF-SR comes with a Pinlock-equipped clear face shield that has a pretty nice field of view. Unfortunately, there is no inner sun visor, which is a bummer, but you can replace this with sunglasses, at least.

Check out our Shoei Helmets review section for more content!

While the RF-SR has nothing different from the modern Shoei helmets when it comes to its interior, it’s not a bad thing. The anti-microbial comfort liner with emergency quick-release cheek pads, along with cutouts for glasses, makes for a well-packed and plush interior.

From the ventilation perspective, there is nothing too groundbreaking from a design perspective, but the airflow is pretty amazing. Especially during scorching hot days. Shoei RF-SR is also good for blocking out the noise, thanks to the well-designed vents.

Overall, our shot goes to the Shoei RF-SR if looking for the most balanced mid-range full-face motorcycle helmet on the market. It’s just hard to find any large issues with this lid.

    PROS

  • Extra safe
  • Very comfortable
  • Nice field of view
  • Great ventilation and noise suppression
  • Well-balanced
  • CONS

  • No inner sun visor
  • 7) HJC RPHA 70 ST – Best Value Full-Face Motorcycle Helmet

HJC RPHA 70 ST - Best Value Full-Face Motorcycle Helmet

HJC is one of the most known motorcycle helmet brands that creates budget motorcycle helmets. It is a surprise to see their RPHA 70 ST is well worth the place on our best full-face motorcycle helmets of 2021 list! This full-face helmet is tailored to sports and touring riders, with a wide range of features to accommodate these riders.

Most RPHA 70 ST models have a Premium Integrated Matrix shell comprised of six composite layers (including carbon, fiberglass, and kevlar) to provide reasonable protection and save on weight. Still, this lid isn’t the safest out there due to its 3-star SHARP rating. Well, it has ECE and DOT safety certificates on board!

Check out our HJC helmets section for more reviews!

But, the features you get for a $400/£290 motorcycle helmet make this one of the best value full-face motorcycle helmets of 2021! You get a quick-release clear face shield with two locking positions for more safety. Also, there is an inner sun visor as a bonus with anti-fog coating, the same as the clear face shield.

The best segment of the RPHA 70 ST is its ventilation scheme, designed to work with sport and touring riders the same. It provides amazing airflow but also keeps the wind noise down to a minimum, which is epic.

When you wear this lid on your head, you will feel extra comfortable even though the interior fabric is nothing too groundbreaking. At least you won’t sweat too much inside this lid, and there is also a cutout for the glasses.

Overall, HJC RPHA 70 ST is a versatile full-face motorcycle helmet that comes packed with many useful features at a reasonable price tag. Not a lot of full-face helmets come close to this one when we talk about real value.

    PROS

  • Great value for money
  • Comes with an inner sun visor
  • Epic vent scheme
  • Feels very comfortable
  • CONS

  • Not the safest motorcycle helmet out there

    Closing Words

All of the entries on our best full-face motorcycle helmets of 2021 list have the qualities that make them outshine the rest of the market.

But, if we had to choose the best full-face helmet for the money, we would go for the Shoei RF-1400 full-face helmet. It’s an evolution of the RF-1200 helmet that dominated the market for many years. Judging by the overall well-balanced quality of the RF-1400, we suspect it will dominate the market the same way its predecessor did.
