Yamaha Will Probably Replace R6 With A Full-Faired MT-07 For Its 2022 Lineup!

0

In the last quarter of 2020, Yamaha slowly started releasing their 2021 lineup, with the alarming omission of the R6. It looks like Yamaha is aiming to replace the R6 with an MT-07 build that features fairings.

We had an assumption that R6 was delayed due to the new Euro 5 regulations or declining sales induced by the COVID-19 pandemic. Nevertheless, the lack of R6 in the 2021 lineup leaves only the R3 and R1, which means that there is a lack of a suitable bike for riders looking for a motorcycle between beginner and expert ranges.

Still, there is hope for these riders, in the form of a revised MT-07 with full fairings that will resemble the R6. It’s supposed to release before the autumn of 2021. If this bike has the same frame build, it will have a less sporty but more ergonomic feel – not unlike Aprilia’s Tuono 660, a sportbike with an upright riding position.

Keep in mind that there is a difference in horsepower between the latest R6 variant (110 horsepower) and the current MT-07 (74 horsepower). Still, there is much more focus on torque in the MT-07’s CP2 engine, but it seems that this combination will be good enough to replace the R6.

The CP2 engine will be newly-made, but it seems unlikely to get further power updates, so we can probably put this updated MT-07 alongside bikes like CBR650R and not the CBR650RR, which competed with R6.

When it comes to the naming of the new model, will it be called R7 or MT-07F? We will find out later during this year, that’s for sure!

BMW Will Continue To Release Cruiser Models!

0

BMW ushered in their cruiser lineup revival with the R18 in 2020. It’s a powerhouse with a 1,800cc engine to rival the American giants in the cruiser market.

When the R18 was announced, it was no secret that the company plans to create two more variants of the bike. It would make total sense, as BMW could diversify their cruiser portfolio a bit so that their customers could choose the right fit for them.

For now, BMW has released one from these two additional variants – the R18 Classic. The Classic features saddlebags, a windscreen, and a few small tweaks to the original R18 motorcycle.

We expect the third variant to be released in the following months. What features will it have? Some rumors state that it will feature a batwing-style fairing, which would give it a tough look and more capability for long road trips.

Of course, it seems that BMW won’t stop with expanding their cruiser lineup even after they release the third variant of the R18. It seems they will continue further by releasing more smaller cruiser bikes.

This information comes from a French publication that had a chance to discuss BMW’s future plans with the head of BMW – Markus Schramm.

Basically, he didn’t want to answer directly to the questions of whether BMW will release smaller R18 variants. Still, he expressed interest in the idea.

But, to build on the rumors, he stated that the R18 isn’t the end of BMW’s cruiser lineup and that it would make sense to him to release smaller cruiser models.

It’s good to see that BMW is embracing the diversification, and we are certainly stoked to see the third R18 variant!

Honda H’Ness CB350 Continues To Sell Like Crazy In India!

0

Honda H’Ness CB350 has taken over the Indian market by storm, with 10,000 units sold in only three months since its release! This 350cc motorcycle is a callback to older times when classic style was all the rage. When Honda released this low-displacement motorcycle in December 2020, they managed to sell 1,000 units in the first month.

The exponential growth to 10,000 units in just three months is a fantastic milestone for Honda. What’s more crazy is that this bike is still only being sold in India! Honda made this bike available in their BigWing dealerships.

The BigWing is a dealership network spread across major cities in India. There are 23 BigWing dealerships right now, and it is astounding that Honda managed to move 10,000 units of the same motorcycle when limited with this number of locations. Well, India is a large market – that’s a fact: there are over 37 million motorcycles in India!

To answer this surge in sales, Honda plans to expand its BigWing dealership network to 50 dealerships this year.

So, why is this motorcycle so popular? Yadvinder Singh Guleria, the Sales and Marketing Director of Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India, states that the H’Ness CB350 is so popular because of its “modern-classic design, advanced features, refinement and build quality”, as well as “the rich, distinctive roar of the exhaust note.”

With such strong sales, it would make sense for Honda to try out their luck with this low-displacement bike in other markets! Europe and the US, please?

Triumph Teases The 2021 Bonneville Lineup!

0

Good news for long-time Triumph fans and those jumping on the hype train! They have announced 2021 updates for their legendary Bonneville models via a teaser YouTube video that you can see down below!

The Bonneville range has been around since 1959. Even though the model has undergone many tech changes, the vintage style has remained the same – even for the 2021 variants. After all, Triumph knows that retro styling attracts existing users and those looking for something new to ride on.

So, what can we dig up from this teaser video? First of all, it seems that Triumph will include a LED hybrid single-bulb front headlamp. It’s certainly a trademark retro styling feature, but the inclusion of LED lights makes sense from the tech standpoint.

Other than that, we don’t know what other changes will be implemented in the 2021 Bonneville models. Well, we will find out very soon – as Triumph has announced the date of the global live launch of this lineup. It’s on 23rd February of 2021!

Harley-Davidson Desires To Revoke Branded Apparel On Amazon!

0

When Jochen Zeits stepped on the CEO role of Harley-Davidson last May, there was a lot of work to be done. In this period, the legendary company stepped out of its comfort zone with some fresh ideas, such as:

  • the LiveWire – first electric motorcycle from Harley-Davidson
  • the Pan-America – first ADV from Harley-Davidson

For 2021, Harley-Davidson announced that they would adopt a more conservative approach due to finance issues. They nicknamed the plan “Hardwire”, with a commence date being set for this February.

It seems that they are slowly starting with this new strategy, as Zeits stated that they don’t want to sell their branded apparel on Amazon. Actually, they want to ramp up on a digital e-commerce business with their certified dealers.

As of right now, the change still didn’t occur, as there are tons of Harley-Davidson branded apparel on Amazon, that you can find with a simple search.

Still, it is unclear how this decision may impact the Amazon sellers who sell the official HD merch. HD probably pays some fees to Amazon, making total sense for their desire to get rid of these fees.

In the end, HD has its own, well-established e-commerce presence, dealing with products from bike parts to shoes and coffee mugs, with free shipping in the US for orders over $50. Along with that, pickup shipping costs are always zero in the case when the shipment is coming to your local HD dealership.

It seems that Harley wants to tighten their grip on their e-commerce business with this move. After all, Amazon is a big competitor that asks for its share of profits. This move makes sense for Harley-Davidson in a way. Time will tell when the move will happen and how will it impact the financial results of Harley-Davidson.

Honda Releases The CB350 RS In India!

0

Honda BigWing teased a new reveal for today, and the Indian market should not be disappointed. They have revealed what we already knew – the scrambler variant of the H’Ness CB350; the Honda CB350 RS.

As we speak now, the bike has been launched in India with the starting price of Rs 1.96 lakh, which costs Rs 10,000 more than the base model of the H’Ness CB350. If we convert this to other currencies, that would equal a price of $2,691/€2,222/£1,934.

For now, the CB350 RS is available in two colour variants:

  • Radiant Red Metallic
  • Black with Pearl Sports Yellow

Honda aims to provide maximum comfort with a bike based on the H’Ness CB350 platform. That’s why the RS moniker stands for Road Sailing in this context. It certainly looks like a bike that could take riders on longer distance trips.

As it shares the H’Ness CB350 platform, it is powered by the 348cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine, paired with a five-speed transmission. The engine produces 20,8 horsepower and 22,13 lb-ft of torque.

So, what features does the scrambler CB350 RS include?

First of all, it features a slip and assist clutch, the same one implemented with the H’Ness.

There is also an inclusion of the Honda Selectable Torque Control system, a toggleable traction control system. The instrument cluster is the same as with H’Ness CB350 – a combination of digital and analog indicators.

What are the differences with the H’Ness CB350 though? The CB350 RS will get a skid plate and a 150/70 section rear tire to help with the longer trips. Because of that, the rear end of CB350 RS looks much different than the H’Ness, and that’s where we come into the ergonomics of the bike itself.

The CB350 RS seat will have better cushioning than the H’Ness CB350 and comes with a ‘tuck and roll’ design.

The braking system also seems to be improved, with the 310mm front disc brake and the 240mm rear disc brake. It all comes full circle with a dual-channel ABS.

Well, these are some great news for motorcycle enthusiasts in India looking for a killer low-displacement bike. Honda is certainly doing epic work with these bikes and seems to be better off than Royal Enfield with their Meteor 350, for now.

US Tax Credit For EVs Extended Until 2022!

0

Good news for all you electric motorcycle riders that live in the US! The federal tax credit that was issued for new electric bike models at the end of 2019 has been extended until 1st January of 2022!

What does this mean for fellow electric motorcycle riders? First of all, you can get a 10% tax credit for any electric motorcycle with a minimum speed of 45 mph (or 72 km/h). The maximum tax credit amount you can get is $2,500 though.

Keep in mind that this tax return scheme doesn’t apply to electric mopeds and similar vehicles.

For example, if you buy a Harley-Davidson LiveWire, which has a starting price of $29,799, you will get less than 10% tax credit. Still, $2,500 is a nice amount that you can utilize in many different ways.

Another thing of note is that there is another federal tax credit extension for old and new electric motorcycle owners. The 30% EV charger installation tax credit got the same extension too. For this year, you are qualified to get a maximum credit of $1,000 for home installations and a maximum credit of $30,000 for business installations made on new EV chargers.

As the electric motorcycle industry is slowly growing and is expected to grow even more due to emission regulations, these tax credit options are an excellent way to encourage more riders to switch to the electric engines.
