Husqvarna Is Developing Vitpilen And Svartpilen 501!

As KTM is doing in recent times, its subsidiary Husqvarna is aiming to cater their motorcycle offerings to a wider range of motorcycle riders. Their most popular bikes are certainly the Vitpilen and Svartpilen – street bikes designed with heavy retro styling.

Svartpilen is a versatile naked bike that promotes upright position, while the Vitpilen is a more aggressive cafe racer motorcycle. Right now, there are a few displacement options for these two bikes, with the 125cc variant being the most beginner-friendly option.

But, as we go up the displacement ranges in Husqvarna’s lineup, we can notice that all of the bikes share a single cylinder engine – from the 125, all the way to the 701.

Well, this is going to change, as Husqvarna is developing a parallel twin engine for the Svartpilen and Vitpilen 501 range. What Husqvarna is doing here is essentially adapting the KTM 490 platform for their street bike range. This will certainly add a more refined performance to the already-established street bikes.

The KTM’s 490 platform in question is being co-developed by Bajaj Auto. This company will eventually take over the manufacturing process of the said platform, which may optimize the production volume for the global market.

These are some exciting news for Svartpilen and Vitpilen fans, so make sure to stay tuned for more info!
