Ola Electric is one of the world’s most popular EV two-wheeler manufacturers. Despite being exclusively accessible in India, Ola Electric has garnered global interest due to its almost amazing price-to-tech ratio.
This was observed in the company’s S1 electric scooter model. For slightly north of USD 1,000, you can have an EV scooter with connectivity, long-range, and minimalist design.
However, Ola Electric recently expanded beyond scooters to include full-fledged electric motorcycles. This became a reality on August 15, 2024, when the company’s CEO, Bhavish Aggarwal, debuted its first electric motorcycle, the Roadster.
The new model is available in three variants: the Roadster X, Roadster, and Roadster Pro, all based on Ola’s Gen 3 platform. According to Ola, shipments of the Roadster X and Roadster will begin in January next year. Meanwhile, the Roadster Pro will make its debut during India’s Diwali season in 2025, which is typically around October. Nonetheless, Ola Electric has begun bookings for all three types.
Price, Range, and Specifications of all variants of OLA Roadster
The OLA Roadster X is the most cheap variant of the bunch, with an MSRP of INR 74,999, or approximately USD 895. Its top speed is 124 kilometers per hour (77 miles per hour), making it mainly an urban runabout. It does, however, boast an amazing range of 200 kilometers (125 miles).
The regular OLA Roadster is Ola’s mid-tier product, starting at INR 104,999 (about USD 1,253). It comes in three battery sizes: 2.5 kWh, 4.5 kWh, and 6 kWh, and has a top speed of 126 kilometers per hour (79 mph). Depending on the battery you choose, you can expect a range of around 600 kilometers (375 miles) on a single charge.
The OLA Roadster Pro is Ola’s flagship EV motorbike. It is the most performance-oriented vehicle to date, starting at INR 199,999 (approximately USD 2,387), with a peak speed of 194 kilometers per hour (121 miles per hour). It also claims a range of over 375 miles and has some advanced rider aids, as well as a big 10-inch touchscreen display.
But, all things considered, it’s fairly amazing that Ola Electric can deliver an electric motorbike with this degree of modern technology at such a low cost. And if the Roadster lives up to its specifications, it will undoubtedly be a major changer in the EV motorbike industry.
